Summary of Changes from Previous Version

30 April 2012 - Minor textual changes made to correct references to other policies. Clause Amended: 26, 29



This version contains extensive updates and makes the policy more readable. Section 1 - Purpose - This section has been condensed to focus on the key reasons for the policy. Section 2 - Definitions - Some definitions have been updated, and new ones added. Section 3 - Policy Statement - Incorporates some policy statements that were previously in Section 1. Procedural information has been moved to Section 4. Contains new clauses 12 and 13 relating to quality assurance. Section 4 - Procedures - Contains new clauses: 17 and 18 on the role of the Academic Registrar in decision making. Clause 19 gives the University the right to withdraw advanced standing where an error has been made. Clause 47 states that visa or immigration requirements are not considered valid academic reasons for relinquishing advanced standing. A revised timeline for applying for advanced standing is contained in clause 40. Clauses 49 to 55 contain a revised appeals process.
