Summary of Changes from Previous Version

In 2017 Western Sydney University will be establishing a Vice-Chancellor’s Art Committee (VCAC) so as to develop an exhibition program and art collection that will:
a) enhance the educational, cultural and everyday experience of students, staff and visitors to the University;
b) be a teaching, learning and research resource demonstrating contemporary Australian art practices and international collaborations and partnerships with the University;
c) be promoted internationally, nationally and regionally as a significant social and cultural resource which engages with the community within Greater Western Sydney; and/or
d) collect the work of artists with a proven record of practice and development of their art form and who are represented in public collections, or who have received recognition through awards or prizes.
As VCAC will subsume the Art Promotion and Collection Advisory Committee, the Art Promotion and Collection Policy has been revised. The revised policy delineates the organisational and aesthetic culture that the University intends the Art collection to reflect and promote. It also removes the operational/procedural aspects of the policy which are reflected in the VCAC Terms of Reference
