Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The Medical Assistance Policy was introduced to address behavioural issues involving students with health (mainly mental health) conditions where it was not appropriate to deal with them under student misconduct procedures. The Policy required a substantial review to align with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992
(Cth), focus on a trauma informed approach and update the procedures (into a separate policy document) which were no longer fit for purpose. The new Student Health Leave Policy will replace the Medical Assistance Policy on publication.
