Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) (MS Act) requires Australian entities with annual consolidated revenue of more than $100 million to prepare annual Modern Slavery Statements (Statements) on the year on year improvement of the identification and assessment of modern slavery incidents and risks in their operations and supply chains.

The Board of Trustees approved the University’s first Statement in June 2021 (for the reporting period of the 2020 calendar year), and it was uploaded to the Australian Government’s public repository known as the Modern Slavery Statements Register. The 2020 Statement stated a standalone Modern Slavery Prevention Policy (MSP Policy) for the University and its controlled entities was developed and awaiting approval. The progress of the Policy will be documented in the 2021 Statement (Executive Committee endorsement), and 2022 Statement (final approval), demonstrating the year on year improvement sought by the Act.
