Summary of Changes from Previous Version

3 May 2021 – System Administrator Fix – Update the placeholder for Academic Senate from the expired Divisions-based record to the Committee/Group-based record.

1 November 2018 – References to the expired document ‘Research Higher Degree Appeals Policy’ deleted and replaced by an associated document ‘Research Higher Degree Appeals Guidelines’.


The University provides students with the right of appeal against a range of academic decisions. To ensure consistency, equity for students and compliance to required standards, these procedures set out the protocols for submitting an appeal, especially where specific clauses are not contained in a University policy. These procedures were approved at the 9 December 2017 Academic Senate [AS17:06/07]
