Summary of Changes from Previous Version

17/04/2024: Associated Information weblink document updated with new title and URL – Progression rules webpage updated to Academic Progression webpage.

The Policy has been updated to address issues with the implementation of the substantially revised version of the Policy that was published in 2020. The changes focus on supporting student success and primarily relate to language and clarity of procedural elements, including: Simplification and clarification of stages and processes; Inclusion of Academic Senate approval of GPA thresholds and Chair of Academic Senate for exceptions; Clarification of when progression rules apply and the impact of program transfers; Structural changes to improve usability including development of separate Procedures. A number of structural changes have also been made to improve usability of Policy, including: Separating the Progression Procedures from the Policy, with the revised Policy focusing on principles with operational elements contained in the Procedures; Re-grouping information on Progression Rules into specific categories (General Progression Rules, Program Progression Rules, Subject Progression Rules and Maximum Study Time Rules); Transferring the Program Specific Progression Rules to a separate Associated Document.
