Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The updated Travel Policy introduces several key changes designed to strengthen risk management, clarify booking processes, enhance cybersecurity obligations and improve overall compliance to University travel. Key amendments focus on enhancing safety controls for high risk destinations, streamlining compliance obligations and tightening booking and accommodation standards. The policy introduces clearer thresholds for WHS risk assessments, strengthened cybersecurity requirements for staff travelling with University devices and revised insurance guidance to clarify coverage for both domestic and international travel.

Operational improvements include use of flexible booking arrangements under certain circumstances, explicit prohibition of third party booking platforms and shortâ€'term private rentals, and simplified travel diary requirements. Updated cash advance limits reflect more prudent financial controls particularly for students and casual staff without access to corporate cards. Overall, the changes support safer travel, improved compliance, and greater consistency in practice across the University.
