Summary of Changes from Previous Version

18 October 2021 – System Administrator Fix – Updated placeholder for Special Consideration Policy to remove ‘alternate text’ preventing the change to the policy title from updating to Disruptions to Studies Policy.


30 July 2021 – Inserted the note and hyperlink to the new Policy Suspension or Variation Instrument  – COVID-19 Policy Response 2021 and referenced the expired Policy Suspension or Variation Instrument.


6 May 2021 – System Administrator Fix – update the placeholder for Academic Senate from the Division-base record to the Committee-based record.


30 April 2021 – System Administrator Fix – Update the placeholder for the School Academic Committee from the redundant Divisions-based record to the  Committee/Group based record.


20 April 2021 – Document updated to reflect the position title changes for the Director, Student Administration to Director, Data, Integrity, Quality and Operations; and Senior Manager, Student Operations to Senior Manager, Curriculum Data Quality.


18 February 2021 – Inserted the note and hyperlink related to the Policy Suspension or Variation Instrument  – GPA Scheme in place due to COVID-19.


The substantially revised Assessment Policy (renamed Assessment Policy – Criteria and Standards-Based Assessment) has been updated to bring the policy in line with contemporary practice, including the introduction of a range of elements in line with contemporary research and assessment practice, characterised as assessment for learning. For example, using assessment tasks for guidance and engagement to encourage deep learning, in addition to the required assessment of learning as a measure of performance.


Additional amendments based on feedback include:


- emphasising the role of School Academic Committee (SAC);

- clarifying the intention and processes for formative assessments, deduction of ‘late marks’, supplementary assessments, weighting of assessments, grade boundaries, delegations and responsibilities;

- adding references to Special Requirements;

- clarifying links to related documents and legislation;

- amending various definitions to move ’policy’ information out of the definitions;

- including alternative sections/clauses to be applied when the new Student Management System is implemented; and - rewording for sense and clarity.
