Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The revised and renamed Student Feedback Policy sets out governance arrangements for student feedback collections across the University with a principles-based policy document. In creating a principle-based policy, there has been some expansion of the scope to cover the collection of all student feedback that gathers information from students about the student experience of teaching, learning, curricular and co-curricular activities, with exceptions relating to research projects, conducted as part of curriculum for internal use, prospective students and transaction-based service ratings. This was to ensure that all student surveys are captured under the principles of this Policy. The procedural elements governing the administration of collecting student feedback have been collated into mandatory Student Feedback Procedures.

This revised suite of documents addresses the concerns of over-use of surveys and competing timeframes for survey completion. They also categorise student feedback surveys included under these policy documents, into four classifications, and provide clarity around scope, approval, prioritising and timeframes associated with conducting student surveys.

The ‘Approval Authority’ for the current Student Feedback on Units and Teaching Survey Policy is the Vice-Chancellor. In considering that the revised and renamed Student Feedback Policy sets out the academic monitoring and review of the key parameters and performance indicators for academic planning and academic quality improvement processes, the VC and Academic Senate agreed that the ‘Approval Authority’ of the revised policy should be Academic Senate.
