Summary of Changes from Previous Version

At its 4 December 2020 meeting, Academic Senate approved the revised and retitled Disruption to Studies Policy, previously titled Special Consideration Policy (resolution AS 20/06:04). The key differences between the Special Consideration Policy and the revised and renamed Disruption to Studies Policy are that the latter only applies to serious and unavoidable disruptions that arise after a session has commenced. Students with a pre-existing disability or chronic health condition, or prolonged adverse circumstances, are referred to the Medical Assistance Policy and the Disability Policy. The new policy also does not cover events that occur during a final exam as they are covered by the Deferred Exam Procedures. Where a student has a minor disruption, they can request an extension for submission of an assignment.
