Summary of Changes from Previous Version
identified a need to change the clauses in the
Graduation Policy covering Replacement
Testamurs.
Currently, the Policy only permits the issue of
a replacement testamurs when the original is
lost, mutilated or destroyed.
The OAR have received requests for the re-issue
of documentation to reflect name changes
resulting from change of gender, change in
marital status, incorrect use of 'common usage'
names in University documentation from an
earlier period, and changes of name to reflect
cultural identity.
A survey demonstrated that the facility to
replace a testamur in these circumstances is
available at many other institutions, and is
considered to provide a service to graduates
who have a genuine requirement to obtain
documentation that reflects their current
status.
Not making this service available would mean
that the graduate's University testamur would
be considered unsuitable for display, or other
use.
