15/2/2021: Notes requested by Director, Student Administration. Please note that:

  1. Clauses (33), (34) and (37) relating to the criteria for the Dean’s Medal are effective from 1 January 2021. As the Deans medal is awarded annually, the conferral cohort for 2020 will be assessed on the criteria outlined in these clauses in the previous version of the policy which was published on 13 December 2016;

  2. In addition to the previous notes about changes to this Policy,  another change approved in 2020 is new Clause (35): Students are not eligible for a Dean’s Medal if a Student Misconduct sanction has been applied during the course for which they are a current graduand.

A minor amendment has been made to change the phrase “calendar year” to “conferral year” in Clauses (32) and (36). This amendment was approved by Academic Senate at the 19 June 2020 meeting, however, was subsequently not included in the version published on 10 July 2020. This change has been incorporated to reflect a change in process to the Method of Selection, so the Dean’s Medal is now awarded based on conferral year rather than calendar year. This change will assist processing due to the intended move to rolling conferrals and address an issue where some eligible students were being missed.
