Summary of Changes from Previous Version

15 May 2020 – Inserted note and hyperlink related to the Policy Suspension or Variation Instrument – Graduation in Absentia currently in place due to the COVID-19 crisis.


1 May 2020 – Inserted a note and hyperlink related to the Policy Suspension or Variation Instrument – GPA Scheme currently in place due to COVID-19 crisis.


6 March 2019 – Deleted references to the redundant unit ‘Assessment and Graduation Unit’ and replaced with ‘Graduation Team’.


Clause 4 covering eligibility to graduate has been relocated from later in the policy. The Deputy Chair of Senate requested an editorial amendment to this clause to make it more readable, and this has been included subsequent to the Senate meeting on 21 October 2016.



The position of the Academic Registrar has been replaced by the Chief Student Experience Officer or Student Experience Office in clauses 4, 35 and 43.

New clause 5 provides that the Dean or Deputy Dean may, on the recommendation of the DAP, approve the substitution of one or more units in a course, in exceptional circumstances and subject to conditions.

The FNS grade has replaced the AF grade in Table 1.

Guidelines have been provided covering the Award of University Medals.
