Summary of Changes from Previous Version

Academic Planning and Curriculum Approval Committee (APCAC) considered ways to clarify the structure of nested postgraduate coursework programs and how postgraduate subject levels should be aligned with the AQF level of the qualification. This brought a focus to the issues created by the introduction of the two post-graduate subject levels previously contained in these procedures. The following amendments to the Curriculum Structure Procedures were proposed to overcome these issues: • re-instatement of one PG subject level • strengthening the requirements for scaffolded learning • strengthening admission requirements • include principles for program design (closely aligned to the AQF Explanation and TEQSA’s Guidance Notes) • clearly identify the purpose of pathways and emphasise that short stand-alone programs are also possible. This would provide for pedagogical rationales to be provided for 80 credit point pathways that contain subjects which overlap with Graduate Certificate/Graduate Diploma or first year study.
