Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The revised policy includes a number of editorial changes and structural changes, including retitling headings and amending the heading structure, restructuring and relocating information into the respective policy and procedure sections and separating out information in clauses where the clause contained more than one main idea. The key changes include: Section 1 – Purpose and Context - Inclusion of Honours students; - Relocation of original clause (8) that references other relevant policies from Section 3 – Policy Statement. Section 2 – Definitions - Clause added to reference and link to the Policy DDS Glossary for further definitions; - Australian Code definition of research added. Section 3 – Policy Statement - Reference to the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018) added; - Relocation of policy statements from clauses in previously titled Parts A-G to Clause (7) as a summary of the principles and criteria. Section 4 – Procedures - Link to the University organisational chart added (Clause (13)); - Addition of heading: Part A - Approval of Research Proposals; - Addition of heading: Part B – Criteria for Approving Research Activity; – ‘Part’ headings (Part A – Part G) changed to sub-headings under new ‘Part B’ heading; - Addition of heading: Part C – Applications to Conduct Research; - Previously titled headings (Part H – Part M) changed to sub-headings under the new ‘Part C’ heading; - Information from original Clause (7) relocated to ‘Approval from an Ethics Committee’ heading.
