Summary of Changes from Previous Version

16/01/2024: System Administrator Fix – updated placeholder for School to connect to correct ‘unit’ placeholder.

24 January 2023 – System Administrator Fix – Updated placeholder for School Academic Committee from Division-based to Committee/Group-based record.

In May 2021, the new Curriculum Design and Approvals (CDA) Policy was published, representing a succinct statement of guiding principles. Associated procedure and guideline documents, intended to support Schools in interpreting and applying the Policy (principles) in their specific contexts, have been progressively developed or reviewed. This procedure document is one of these associated documents. Operational elements not covered in the CDA Policy or related procedures, such as admission criteria, supervision, thesis submission and extensions, examination and award levels have been added to these Honours Procedures. In addition, this review provided the opportunity to address the change from the more HDR-like end-on honours degrees, which typically have a large thesis component, to the embedded honours courses which typically have a small (20 – 40 credit point) honours thesis or project subject. Approved at Academic Senate 9 Dec 2022 [AS 22/06:03] - along with update to the CDA Policy to change pre-empted Honours Guidelines to Honours Procedures
