Summary of Changes from Previous Version

10 September 2021 – Document updated to reflect the position title change for the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor to Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost.

The Gift and Benefit Acceptance and Management Policy and the Gift and Benefit Reporting and Registration Procedure were previously owned by the Office of Human Resources (HR). In November 2019 it was discussed by the Director, Audit and Risk Assessment and the Associate Director, HR Partnership that as part of the risk function, the Office of Audit and Risk Assessment (ARA) should take the ownership of the Policy and revise it accordingly. The Gifts and Benefit Acceptance and Management Policy and associated Procedures were due for review in October 2018 and, to ensure that the new Policy provides a clear decision making framework about when to accept or decline a gift or benefit, a holistic change was made to it, post a benchmarking exercise with the number of Australian Universities.
