Summary of Changes from Previous Version

Some of the most significant changes include:

- Integrating the new policy to include traditional 'media', 'social media' and 'public commentary' to more accurately reflect today's modern, digital media landscape

- Emphasising the University's commitment to recognising, valuing and protecting academic and intellectual freedom

- Adding a section providing definitions of common terms and updates on the Executive structure and who speaks on behalf of the University

- Amending the sections relating to media or public comment by a staff member that may cause controversy or offence, making it more supportive

- Clarifying that the policy does not apply to the use of media or social media where there is no identifiable connection to the University

- Adding procedural sections relating to liaising with the media, approval of official social media sites, response to adverse postings on external websites, and media and social media support and training for staff.
